2025-26 Funding Support
Share
It's hard to believe that we are already halfway through this fiscal year (here at Children's Aid Foundation of Nova Scotia, our fiscal year runs April 1 - March 31).
Our organization has gone through lots of big changes this past six months: we said happy retirement to Jane Boyd Landry after 14 incredible years as Executive Director with the Foundation. We welcomed our new Executive Director Kate Pepler to the organization. Underwent a rebrand, and launched our new website. Launched a Symbolic Shop. Welcomed four new Board Members. Launched a new program - the Back-to-School drive.
Through all this change, what hasn't changed is our drive to support vulnerable kids, youth, and families in the province. We've had the chance to connect with some parents of the kids we serve, former youth in care we've supported, and of course the incredible community support workers. Talking to folks in the community and those we serve, has reiterated what we are so good at: acting fast to get supports to those most in need. As one worker recently said to us:
"Thank you so much for the work you do. You are the only low-barrier funding option around, and our Kiddos have had so many opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have had, because of you."
So far this year, we've supported over 472 kids and youth, and distributed over $161,763.27 funds to youth.
As is typical, the most common request we've received has been for health care supports. These range from eye exams and glasses, dental work, medication, medical devices, birth control implants, and more.
Our second most utilized program is our recreation programs. One of the recreation streams is our own program, Good Beginnings. This is a flexible program that supports kids and youth in sports, arts, or school activities (like prom, graduation, etc). The second recreation fund is funded by Children's Aid Foundation of Canada, the CIBC Miracle Fund.
Thank you for your support, and reading along!
