A Community Partnership That Puts Comfort in Kids’ Hands: Woozles x CAFNS

We are so excited to share a new community partnership that is already making a meaningful difference for children in care across Nova Scotia.

Woozles Children’s Bookstore—Halifax’s beloved independent kids’ bookstore located on Shirley Street—has partnered with the Children’s Aid Foundation of Nova Scotia (CAFNS) to support our Ted and Loretta Foster Care Comfort Kit Program.

Since 1978, Woozles has been an integral part of Halifax, thoughtfully curating books, toys, and gifts that spark imagination, creativity, and joy for children of all ages. Their team brings deep knowledge, care, and heart to everything they do—and a genuine belief in the power of stories and play.

Supporting the Foster Care Comfort Kit Program

Through this partnership, CAFNS is purchasing books and toys from Woozles to include in our Foster Care Comfort Kits (often called our Backpack Program). These kits are given to children entering foster care—often during moments of transition, uncertainty, and stress.

Each backpack is designed to offer a small sense of comfort and normalcy. Including high-quality, age-appropriate books and toys helps children feel seen, supported, and cared for—sometimes during one of the hardest days of their lives.

By sourcing these items from Woozles, we’re not only supporting children in care, but also strengthening our local community and partnering with a business that shares our values.
